Panama City Beach sees record-breaking tourism numbers, officials say

According to officials with the Tourist Development Council, this August was up 25.4 percent compared to last August.

According to the TDC’s public relations manager, Catie Feeney, that’s the most growth they’ve seen.

Overall, officials say this year is up 10.2 percent over last year.

Bed tax collections have already surpassed last year’s end total, which was $21,317,801 and there is still another month in this fiscal year, which ends in October.

Officials say the money collected by the tourism bed tax is what funds several marketing projects and special events that bring visitors to our area, in turn, bringing more business to local shops and restaurants.
