Panama City Beach plans for crosswalk near Frank Brown Park

Panama City Beach is working on making a crosswalk for people to safely enter and exit Frank Brown Park.

The crosswalk would be located on Pier Park Drive, connecting the Pier Park North shopping area side of the road to Frank Brown Park.

The Palmetto Trace Home Owner’s Association and other locals brought the issue to the city council.

The crosswalk will also give people who find overflow parking at Pier Park North a safe place to cross when large events are held at the park.

“Pier Park has been gracious enough to offer up some parking so between the two, getting people from the East side of the road to the West side of the road with the proper pedestrian crosswalk is always helpful,” Mario Gisbert, City Manager for Panama City Beach said.

The city saved about $30,000 from a donation from the Florida Department of Transportation.

Officials hope to have the project completed soon.
